Hello wildlife lovers!

I’m Luzaan,

just your everyday South African bush girl with a not-so-everyday obsession: wildlife, nature, and birds.

If you ever ask me about my passion, be warned… you might never get me to stop talking. Seriously, you’d probably need a snack and a comfy chair, because I could spend hours speaking about the beauty of the wild, the thrill of ticking off a new bird on my life list, and the indescribable magic that happens when you truly connect with nature.

Today, I’m living my dream at Kambaku II Boat Safaris & Lodge, nestled alongside the beautiful Olifants River in the Greater Kruger.

Here, I work as a Safari Host, Photographic Guide, and in-house Photographer, a career that feels less like a job and more like exactly where I was always meant to be.

But my story started long before cameras and lodges.

My love for wildlife began when I was just a tiny little human. Sundays were sacred in our family, not for sleeping late or staying indoors, but for climbing into the car before sunrise and heading straight to the Kruger National Park, which was practically in my backyard growing up.

Those early mornings shaped me.

The dusty roads.

The smell of the bush after rain.

The excitement of spotting an animal through the car window.

The silence before sunrise broken only by birds calling in the distance.

Those moments lit a fire inside me that never went out.

As I got older, that childhood fascination evolved into something even deeper: wildlife photography.

With no formal training, just a camera, a dream, and a stubborn refusal to give up, I taught myself how to capture the wild through a lens.

What began as a hobby quickly became a lifelong passion.

Photography gave me a voice.

Every image became more than just a photograph; it became a story, a memory, and a way to create awareness for conservation and the protection of the animals I’ve loved for as long as I can remember.

Over time, my work began reaching more people than I ever imagined. My photographs have been featured in renowned publications such as Weg/Go, Getaway, and several issues of Kruger Magazine. One of the proudest moments of my life came when one of my images was chosen for the cover of the Autumn 2025 issue of Kruger Magazine.

That was a real “pinch me” moment.

And yes... I cried a lot

Another dream came true when my photographs were displayed in the reception area of Orpen Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park. To think that the little girl who once stared out the car window in complete awe would one day have her work displayed inside the very place that inspired her,it still feels unreal to me.

But my journey doesn’t stop with still images.

My heart is now set on becoming a professional wildlife filmmaker.

I want to use storytelling through film to inspire people on an even bigger scale, to help others fall in love with the wild the same way I did, and to encourage them to protect these incredible places and creatures before it’s too late.

Big dreams? Absolutely.

But if there’s one thing I know with complete certainty, it’s this: I was born to do this.

I’m just a bush girl with a camera, a calling, and an unshakable love for the wild.

And honestly… I wouldn’t trade this life for anything.
